Background:

Dr. Yong completed his Pediatrics Residency at British Columbia Children’s Hospital.  He was later appointed Clinical Assistant Professorship in the Faculty of Medicine at the University of British Columbia. In 2000, Dr. Yong completed his Fellowship in Biochemical Diseases from BC Children’s Hospital. Dr. Yong also worked at Emergency and Trauma in providing care for Acute Pediatrics. With over 20years of experience Dr Yong not only worked as a clinician in Pediatrics and Newborn care but also in the Clinical Teaching Unit for both Residents and Fellows. As an active staff member, he was part of the Faculty of Medicine teaching team involved in medical education for both undergraduate medical students and post graduate training.

Dr. Yong is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Canada, a member of the Canadian Pediatrics Society and American Academy of Pediatrics. In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Yong has served as a volunteer Lead Physician in international medical missions in areas of disasters such as the South Asian Tsunami, Haiti Earthquake, Philippines Haiyan, Japanese Tohoku Tsunami and Nepal Earthquake.

In 2018 Dr. Yong joined United Family Hospital as Chair of Pediatrics. Dr. Yong has brought with him rich experience in Clinical Pediatrics from newborn to adolescent care.  This has allowed Dr. Yong to develop Pediatrics as a Sub-Specialty Centre in the private sector in Shanghai.
