Bojun HU

Dr. Hu specializes in the integration of body-mind approaches to mental health and combines Western psychotherapies (psychodynamic, dialectical behavior therapy) with Eastern mindfulness/movement practices.

Dr. Hu received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from Swarthmore College in Pennsylvania (USA). She earned a master’s and a doctorate in Clinical Psychology at Fordham University in New York City (USA). During her studies, she focused on post-traumatic growth, significant personality change and chronic mental illnesses. Her research focused on the meanings of change and developmental processes, and how people construct narratives to describe their unique embodied realities and transformational alternatives. Dr. Hu completed her pre-doctoral Psychology internship at MMHC/Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital/Harvard Medical School (USA) and her post-doctoral fellowship at Brandeis University (USA).

Dr. Hu has over 20 years of clinical experience practicing psychology. Before moving to China in 2016, she worked as a therapist in hospitals and outpatient mental health clinics in both the Boston and NYC areas, including through appointments as a clinical supervisor and a consultant. She has taught classes in the areas of Humanistic Psychology and Clinical Psychotherapy. In 2016, Ms. Hu completed a 200-hour yoga teaching certification and now integrates yoga, movement and meditative practices more extensively into her treatment approaches in individual, couples, family, and group settings. She has developed expertise in treating depression/grief, anxiety/stress, relational difficulties, trauma, and adjustment issues in adults 15 years of age and above.

Dr. Hu is a China-licensed psychotherapist and licensed psychologist in the State of Massachusetts. She is a member of and frequent presenter at the American Group Psychotherapy Association. As a Chinese-born American who has navigated the landscapes of cross-cultural adjustment, she is intimately acquainted with the challenges and the potentials of relocation, immigration and globalization.
