Dr. Hai Hu has several areas of specialty including diagnosis and treatment of gallbladder diseases, laparoscopic gallstone removal with gallbladder-preserved (polyp) surgery, laparoscopic gallbladder resection, especially minimally invasive gallbladder-preserving lithotomy (polyp). He took the lead in the world to conduct “laparoscopic gallbladder surgery for hidden scars” and led the team to complete the world’s first pneumoperitoneum-free gallstone removal with gallbladder-preserved surgery.

Education:

Dr. Hu received his doctor’s degree from Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine in 1992, then worked in Shanghai Ruijin Hospital at Biliary Surgery Department, where He treated patients, and developed expertise in managing conditions in gallbladder diseases.

Background:

Dr. Hu has nearly 40 years of clinical experience, and completed over 70,000 gallbladder- surgeries. He is one of the first experts in China to perform minimally invasive gallbladder-preserving procedures in clinical practice and research.

He serves as department director at Cholelithiasis Center of Shanghai East Hospital Affiliated to Tongji University. In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Hu has also published over 100 academic papers, and obtained over 200 issued national patents with more than 30 invention patents.
