Dr. Zhou specializes in neurology with a focus on cognitive impairments, neuropsychology, and chronic pain. She possesses extensive experience in the diagnosis and treatment of both common and complex neurological conditions, including dementia, headache, dizziness, sleep disorders, cerebrovascular diseases, and neurodegenerative diseases.

Education:

Dr. Zhou received her Bachelor’s degree in Medicine and a Master’s degree in Neurology from Wuhan University in 2012. She was subsequently funded by the China Scholarship Council and awarded a PhD in Neuroscience from the University of Strasbourg (UDS)/CNRS in France in 2016. Dr. Zhou completed her residency in Neurology at Shanghai Changhai Hospital (the First Affiliated Hospital of Naval Medical University) in 2017, where she rotated through the emergency, inpatient, and outpatient wards of the Neurology department and other related departments. She completed standardized specialist training in Neurology in Shanghai in 2022.

Background:

Dr. Zhou has over 10 years of clinical experience. Prior to joining Shanghai United Family Hospital and Clinics, she completed a clinical internship in the Neurology Department of the Affiliated Hospital of Nancy University in France, and subsequently served at Shanghai Changhai Hospital (the First Affiliated Hospital of Naval Medical University). Dr. Zhou is particularly skilled in the diagnosis and treatment of memory loss, chronic pain, sleep disorders, and other neurological diseases. She is a certified neuropsychologist by the Chinese Medical Doctor Association, a certified cognitive therapist and neuropsychological assessor by the National Health Commission, and holds a Basic Life Support (BLS) certificate from the American Heart Association (AHA).

Dr. Zhou has frequently served as an examiner for the national medical licensure examination and holds the Shanghai Standardized Residency Training Teacher Certificate. She has led research projects funded by the National Natural Science Fund and the Clinical Research Fund of the Shanghai Municipal Health Commission, and has published numerous research articles in esteemed international medical journals, including the Journal of Pain, the European Journal of Pain, and the Chinese Medical Journal. Additionally, Dr. Zhou has been invited to participate in medical science popularization activities on various media platforms such as “Women Talk,” “Changhai Science Popularization Broadcast,” and “The Thinker.” She co-translated the book Everything in Its Place: First Loves and Last Tales by Dr. Oliver Sacks, which was ranked eighth in the Science and New Knowledge category of the 2021 Douban Annual Book Awards.
