While intensive care unit (ICU) services are often rare within rehabilitation hospitals, early rehab training is very important to even severely injured patients. It is now standard that physicians and physical therapists are working within the ICU at very early stages of recovery to help patients with their recovery, which assists in the minimization and management of complications, as well as increases functional recovery.

BJURH has seven ICU rooms with international-standard equipment, in addition to standing beds and rail lift systems, to start early treatment for patient still within a coma.
