Areas of Specialty Treatments:

Dr. Stancil has several areas of specialty including trauma, ultrasound, and emergency procedures.


Dr. Stancil received his bachelors degree from James Madison University in 1989. He then completed Artillery School in the US Marine Corps, and afterwards Paramedic School. In 2011 he was awarded his doctorate in Medicine from East Tennessee State University. Dr. Stancil completed residency in emergency medicine at Fort Hood Darnell Army Medical Center in 2014. Afterwards he completed Flight Medicine School in the US Army.


Dr. Stancil has over 4 years experience as an emergency medicine attending. Before joining United Family Hospital, Dr. Stancil served as an ER attending at the US Army Landstuhl Regional Medical Center in Germany and the US Army 121 Combat Support Hospital in Seoul, Korea. He served as a Battalion Surgeon assigned to the US Army 82nd Airborne Division during combat operations in Mosul, Iraq, awarded the Bronze Star. He served as Flight Surgeon for an Attack Helicopter Battalion in South Korea. Dr. Stancil worked as a paramedic prior to entering medical school. He completed his Army commitment in September 2018 at the rank of Major.

Dr. Stancil is board certified by the American Board of Emergency Medicine. In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Stancil served as ACLS program director, ATLS instructor, and PALS faculty. He is published in medical journals including The Medical Corps Journal, Journal of Special Operations Medicine, Journal of Paramedic Practice, EMS Magazine, Student British Journal of Medicine, International Journal of Paramedic Practice, and Air Medical Journal.
